Since my older daughter moved back to the north, I've enjoyed day trips with her to places that might be new to her, re-introducing her to Northland.
On Wednesday we decided to have lunch at Helena Bay cafe and art gallery. It was pretty busy with lots of visitors in the area and the food wasn't quite up to the usual standard, edible but not great. And the view from the cafe helped make up for it.
We had a lovely 5 hour drive, calling in to the little beaches and bays along the east coast south of Russell.
Don't laugh - I can't remember how I straighten an horizon.
A perfect way to say goodbye to 2020.
💗
The penultimate image really made me smile. Enjoy the coming year.
ReplyDeleteGlad it amused you, Adrian. I took one look and thought Adrian will have something to say about that crooked horizon.
DeleteLovely! I am truly envious. To spend time on a road trip adventure with someone you love is the perfect respite. Maybe in the U.S. we can do that when the idiots learn their lessons.
ReplyDeleteWe do know how lucky we are, Tabor. The first thing I did when our restrictions were relaxed was take a little road trip.
DeleteLooks like a lovely drive. It makes us a little envious that you have such freedom of movement and association, but your government took the tough decisions when they were needed, and all credit to them.
ReplyDeleteYes, David, we didn't enjoy the strict restrictions at the time but are thankful now.
DeleteThe beaches around there are so beautiful. I did grin at your horizon - it's frustrating when you take a gorgeous photo and the sea decides to tilt :)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid my seas tilt far too often, Margaret. I'm still trying to remember which photo editing programme I use to straighten them.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful place. The picture you straightened in that fashion makes me feel like i am being given the pleasure of a look through your photo album pages.
ReplyDeleteYou'll find many crooked horizons in my photo album, mimi. That's one thing I never remember to check when I'm snapping away.
DeleteAhhh...a lovely day out...and I didn't move away from my computer! :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you and your loved ones all the very best for 2021, Pauline...I hope the year treats you kindly. :)
I've had a few days at the computer lately, too, Lee. The writing bug has had me in its grip. It was good to get out and about. Thanks for the new year wishes. I hope 2021 is kind to you, too.
DeleteSo many places and so much history in the north to check out, I must put Helena Bay on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely spot, Amy. I love that piece of coastline.
