Tomorrow the PM will tell us whether Level 4 will be lifted this week, so I guess today is the day to wonder about what life could be like if and when that happens. It will happen one day, so make that when it happens. My money is on another couple of weeks at this level, although I think level three will be much the same (but with KFC) and those who can do their work while social distancing will return to work and (another) new normal. For me, it won't be any different.
That's OK with me. I'm not in any hurry to rejoin the world as it is now. The only place I'd go would be the supermarket. Apparantly they are a horrible place to be with fearful people rushing around, avoiding eye contact and chat and few smiles or laughter. It seems a sense of humour has become a thing of the past. I'll be happy to wait until people are relaxed and smiling again.
It will be a long time before anyone comes to stay at the lodge again. All that money spent on the new road and goodness knows when it will be used again.
I keep wondering what travel will be like when this is all over. How long will it be before I can go to Brasil to meet my little grand-daughter? I don't think people will be jetting off to far-flung destinations at the drop of a hat any time soon.
This is my daily entry for Jami's Project whereby she wants to create a collection of journal entries from people of different ages, from different countries and different parts of this country, during this 30-day, Covid-19 period. She wants to highlight how “in this together” we all are, regardless of government policies, and the influence it will have on our wellbeing and to evaluate what individuals do to cope. She has participants from Alaska, Canary Island, France, Canada and Norway. (Jami is my grand-daughter.)
The Daily Count
Total cases 1431, Northland 27
9 new cases
18 in hospital
912 recovered
12 deaths
There have now been 3 days of random testing and so far no positive cases have been found.

ReplyDeleteI enjoy our shop. Folk have a good chat and a laugh. No sign of fear here. I say no sign, the young lass outside marshalling us sheep was looking apprehensively at a big black rain cloud. Posted the first comment sans coffee. Too many typos.
ReplyDeleteYou do a lot more before coffee than I do, Adrian. Glad you enjoy your shop, it sounds great.
DeleteIt's going to be another 3 weeks before any alterations are considered again here. I can cope with this new normal but then I've got lots to do and the virtual coffee meetings keep my 'social' life afloat. I think it will be a long time before there is any real change for people with underlying health issues. I have to say so far as I can see from all my neighbours and the friends I 'see' and speak to everyone seems to be pretty happy and making the best of it. At the moment.....
ReplyDeleteI suspect it will be another couple of weeks before we go to level three, Graham. I'm happy to Carry on Regardless for now. Stay happy.
DeleteYes we are all looking forward to an easing of restrictions. In the meantime technology is helping keep in touch with family and friends.
ReplyDeleteThis whole thing would be so different with technology, wouldn't it? I can't imagine how I would cope without being able to 'see' my family occasionally.
DeleteI am trying to shop 3-weekly and so far its working ok. They are talking about easing some of the restrictions here too but I think they should wait longer rather than have another outbreak. We are getting used to the isolation and have as bit of a routine now, life seems slower here now and I don't mind it but I do miss my grandchildren and having coffee with friends. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer the authorities to err on the side of caution, too, Rosie. I haven't found living in isolation much different from my daily life but I do miss the grandies.
DeleteNot even going to speculate about what will happen here, just keep working for those who will have me.
ReplyDeleteCarry on carrying on, messymimi. That's all most of us can do really.
DeleteThe new "norm" is the old "norm" for me...nothing much has changed in my day to day habits/routines. We have to be careful...for the greater good of us all.
ReplyDeleteHopefully...life will get back on its rightful track soon. I feel for those who have lost their jobs...for business that have had to shut their doors. It is a worrying tome for so many....
And, I hope it is not too long before you have the opportunity to meet that darling little grand-daughter! :)
Take good care, Pauline. (And thanks for the laugh over in my blog...I'm still having a giggle over it...as I type this response!) :)
Like you I hope we can all get back to whatever our new normal will be, Lee.
DeleteI think it will be a long while before air travel as we know it will resume.

I try not to even think about how long it will be, Amalia.
