It's time

I can easily survive in my Covid lockdown isolation but just today started feeling the total isolation from all my usual activities.  I haven't visited other blogs or felt much interest in life in general since little baby Mason died.  Such a tiny wee child, he had a huge impact on so many of us.

But before I allow myself to slip into a quagmire of self pity, I'm putting on my Big Girl panties, squaring my shoulders and vowing to do better.

I had to go into town to collect my prescription from the chemist a few days ago and stopped at the lookout on the way home to remind myself that I still live in a beautiful world.

I'm looking forward to a good catch up.

To my fellow Kiwis, I hope you are coping well in Lockdown.

  1. I went back and read your last few posts about baby Mason. I am thinking of you and all your family and considering how you must be in lockdown after such a tragedy of losing a child. That is a very tough thing to consider. I am also thinking of the photo of the tiny baby and also the photo of your granddaughter wearing your red gloves on her feet and the lovely handmade sweater. Thanks for sharing those photos. So lovely. Be good to yourself and remember you won't be in lockdown forever. xx

    1. Hi Kay, Thanks for your kind words. My red gloves are one of little Lexis' favourite play things when she comes to my place. They have now permanently gone into the dress up box. I'm looking forward to seeing her as soon as we come out of lockdown.

  2. Hello Pauline: It is difficult to adequately express the sorrow occasioned by the.loss of a child, an event which most of us will never have to deal with, fortunately. One of my sisters-in-law lost her eleven-year old daughter in a traffic incident, and used the tragedy to spur her to get a degree in social work and help in the counselling of others. I hope that you too will bounce back from your doldrums and embrace life's beauty again. All the best. David

    1. Hi David, I never stay down for long, it's not in my nature (and it's so boring). There are now many signs of spring around me now and the sight of daffodils always cheer the soul.

  3. Pauline, your landscape photo shows you are surrounded by beauty. Keep that camera handy and keep shooting your fine surroundings. New Zealand has dealt with the Covid Virus better than any country in the world. These are all things to rejoice and honor. And thank you for your funny comment today.

  4. Yes, we are lucky to be surrounded by a moat to keep us safe but we are also isolated from the rest of the world. I've thought a few times about a whiskey with ice croutons.

    1. Thanks, Messymimi. In the distance today I saw two people out walking and got quite excited! First people I've seen in 10 days, so staying very safe.

  6. I recognize that view and I know exactly where you took that photo from lol. We have been hanging around home as well except B being an essential work has been the only one working. I don't mind though, I've been trying new recipes out and finding things on youtube to watch.

  7. Love and hugz to you all Pauline. It is never easy losing a loved one, especially a child. A dear family member of my own passed away last week. No funerals allowed is a sad rule, but we will have a memorial service for her later on. Stay safe, Mxx
