Waterlilies

Not sure if that is one word or two.  Maybe hyphenated?  The description of Claude Monet's painting uses one word, so I'm going with that.

It's probably because of that painting that I'm reluctant to show you photos of the waterlilies I saw a few days ago.  I was so busy looking for the frogs I could hear that I almost forgot to take photos.

But, I'm happy.  When I think of Monet's work of art, I don't imagine frogs and what pond is complete without them?

  6. There is something uniquely beautiful about water lilies, even when compared with other plants, and I can understand why artists have valued them as subjects for their canvass. They also do a wonderful job of regulating the temperature of the water in the pond during a hot summer. And they even serve as seats and hiding places for frogs. I hope you find them next time you look!

    1. As long as I can hear the frogs, I'm happy, David but I do love to see them, too. Frogs are among my favourite creatures.

  7. I love your waterlilies. A couple of years ago all mine in the pond suddenly died. I've put new plants in which will, hopefully, come to full flower this summer. However it has never deterred the frogs which return year after year.

    1. I hope your new waterlilies flourish, Graham. Your pond would be frog haven. I wonder if there are many frogs on the island?

  17. Wonderful... Summer seems so very far away here at the moment. (Basically a black&white frozen world here at the moment, with a dusting of snow on top of hard knobby ice...)
