It's been many years since I drove up Prescott Road. I've noticed over the years more houses appearing up on the ridge but was surprised, when I ventured up there on Monday, at just how many homes are there now. The homes look to be standing on small acreage, a few acres or so. On one side of the road there are fabulous views over farmland, Ruakaka township, and out to sea.
I looked up land for sale around this area and got a reality check. $285,000 for 1.43 hectacres (about 3 acres) bare land. That's a very expensive view, don't you think?
It's amazing how much people will pay for a view. Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's cheap compared to the UK. I suspect it's cheap compared to Lewis and Lewis is at the end of the known world.
ReplyDeleteEight plots on the side of Lochness totalling just under a hectare just fetched £1.2 million.
Whatever the market will bear. Someone has the money.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what work pays enough for people to afford to pay that??? which it is like that here, too, in places. And does not even have that view.
ReplyDeleteSad to say, but money is not problem for some people. What makes it worse is that they will buy property with natural habitat and then clean it off and landscape it.
ReplyDeleteVery expensive, but those who have it do not hesitate to pay for what they want.
ReplyDeleteLiving in suburban Merseyside, UK, I don't find it remarkable that people will pay a lot for a view. In my opinion it is far more important than the house!
