Time

Just before my 80th birthday I decided it was about time I got serious about writing my family story.  I've been writing bits for it for about 20 years and realized I probably won't have another 20 to get it done.  So that's what I've been doing these past few weeks.  My progress was slowed by an infection that knocked me for a six.  And I can certainly verify that one does not bounce back as quickly as one once did.  I tell myself to forget about bouncing, just get up and get on with it.

I most likely won't get back here to post about the North Island tour I had with two of my sisters after my birthday.   So I'll just leave a few photos.

    1. Hi Margaret, I've fallen out of love with my camera, these were all on my not very flash phone.

  4. Beautiful photos/views, thanks for showing them. I wish you luck (and determination!) with the writing. I've been dealing with some of my family history "bit by bit" in a separate blog for years (going through old postcards, letters and photos) but having no younger generation to leave it behind to, I doubt I'll ever get round to putting it all together...

    1. Hi Monica, The writing is continuing at a steady pace. The only thing slowing me down is limited ability in MS Word.

  5. I have been working on some family history and I wish you the best of luck. I find it hard when the people I wish I could talk to have passed, so please, write as much as you can.

    1. Hi Michelle, I feel it's good to share what we remember with the younger ones. My children are becoming more interested as they get older.

  6. Love these North Island pics. It is quite different to the Soguth Island and yet the same. A kiwi would always recognise it as NZ. I hope that makes sense

  7. Makes sense to me, Diana. As one of my daughters once commented, "Same, same but different."

  9. I hope you are feeling better. You just reminded me that I should be working on my Family History for the same reason, That I might run out of time to finish it. (if it ever can be finished) It looks like you had a lovely trip for your special birthday.

    1. Hi Diane, Yes, we did have a lovely trip. My sisters from Brisbane appreciated being away from the heat for a while. I've now finished Book I of my story. Maybe after a long, deep breath I'll start on Book II.

  10. Hi Pauline. I've been away but am trying to catch up a bit each day. Today is day 1 and what an amazingly wonderful post this is for me. A reminder of so many places really familiar to me in the 10 years I spent living as a New Zealand Scot. Thank you.
