Excuse me, the 1980s? That was just yesterday! I'm thinking more the 50s and 60s,
Luckily for me, the weekend before I went away I had a trip to Auckland to see the California Design 1930 - 1965 Exhibition at the Auckland Art Gallery. I realized my taste has never moved on from that era. I love the simple, sleek lines, the clear colours.
I'm happy to have moved on when it comes to fashion.
It's not quite me somehow.
I'm really happy about the advance in technology although I don't think my camera can compete with this one when it comes to style.
I think this has been a great topic and look forward to seeing the contributions of the rest of the team here.
Golly I am so retro...old.
ReplyDeleteI always wonder if the style from today will be viewed in the future as retro, in the same way we perceive older style nowadays?

That two piece swim suit and the camera certainly look retro along with the other clothes. Yes, it is hard to believe that 1980s styles are retro.
ReplyDeleteIt always give me a laugh when one of my kids or grands get excited over a new style that look like something I wore as a teenager. I am like you not the retro type. The photos are terrific.
ReplyDeleteI could do with a pair of knickers like those. reinforced at the front to pull my tummy in and laces for those really fat days. I guess I'd have to have incontinence pants inside them though. I'd never be able to get out of them fast enough.
ReplyDeleteI'll raise the tone by saying that, could I afford it, I'd love a desk like this one.
Hello Pauline,
ReplyDeleteWell this post made me feel "retro".
Love that blue coffee pot and that camera, reminds me of a toy camera.
Have a great weekend.
Bev.
Lots of fashion nowadays are recycled from yesteryear!!
ReplyDeletepolaroid camera used to intrigue me.
ReplyDeleteI love your photos and I love visiting exhibitions like that. But it is not what I'd choose for my home or my wardrobe... ;) I'm in trouble just now because I need new glasses and the frame-fashion seems to have gone back to the 1980s. But I don't want to go there!!!
ReplyDeleteAh yes: when waists were waists. The desk is superbly simple and functional and beautiful too.
ReplyDeleteI'm playing catch up today - just stopped in to say hello!
