I've found a few in the archives that I think fit this week's topic, Public Art. I've posted some of them before and have chosen them this time because each is made from a different material to resemble things that are typically Northland.
Concrete seabirds
Aluminium bush canopy
Poles, steel and rope eel trap
And now I'm going a bit random, believing that art is in the eye of the beholder.
I'll stop now before I get carried away and go see what public art the rest of the Friday Shoot Out team has found to show us. They will be here.
I found that I have done local art before with different themes and most of mine came from my archives. Very modern work there. The eel trap is quite interesting. I agree about art in the eye of the beholder. That is nature at it's best.

I love public art. I'm also glad that you recognized the spinder web as "art" and gave it credit for it's creativity. I think it's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI like the Kauri Moth and the last photo brings back memories of a very enjoyable time exploring.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the bush canopy, beautiful designs.
ReplyDeleteTHe eel trap is fascinating.
ReplyDeleteHi, Pauline - I love the fact that you included public artwork done by caterpillars. And I'l love to jump into the eel trap and climb around. Fun sculpture.
ReplyDeletePublic art is often such a controversial topic - people have strong opinions. In the end, I'm usually appreciative of most - even the stuff I don't 'get'. Like you, though, sometimes I find art in places that are completely random.
ReplyDeletethe bush canapy is also my favorite. the lace look is really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAt first glance I did not "get" the first one, but then when I read the caption I did, and now I like it...
ReplyDeleteGreat choices for this theme. Love the web!!!!
