It's definitely a good idea to pause sometimes and look at your local area through the eyes of someone who hasn't seen it before.
That's what I did last weekend when I acted as tour guide to a guest.
It helped that guest arrival day, Friday, was clear and bright. Saturday was overcast and grim and the walk around the beach at Waipu to the Pancake Rocks had to be abandoned.
These photos are taking from our first stop, very close to Whangarei airport, looking down the harbour. The first of many, many photos that weekend!!

Pauline, a gorgeous place, people swimming I see. Seems a long time since we swam here.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree. You get so used to the things around you, you hardly notice them day to day. I started following some other bloggers near me and their photos of our shared surroundings inspire me to take that second look too.
ReplyDeletePictures are lovely Pauline. Too bad the weather didn't cooperate on Saturday though. I hope you and your guest had an enchanting weekend in spite of the weather.
ReplyDeleteI love going around locally with folk who aren't used to the area. I always learn something myself as well as seeing it through different eyes. So often, things that we think of as normal cause a 'Wow' from others. Glad you both enjoyed yourselves.
