Is it dianella?

I spotted these pretty berries right beside a track in the forest.  Does anyone know what they are?  Are they harmful to children?

    1. Me too, Nancy. I don't recall seeing them growing wild in the forest although I think I've seen them in a garden.

    1. No worries, Lee. I don't think they are native to NZ but I don't think I've seen them in Oz, either. Although I've learned a friend in Tasmania has them in her garden.

  4. They look like Dianella to me. I am pretty sure they aren't edible for humans.

    1. I wasn't brave enough to take a bite to see if children might eat them, Serenata.

  6. There's an app you can download, you take a picture of the plant and it tells you what you are looking at. Hope it can help.

  9. What a fascinating color and a beautiful photo of these pretty berries. I am sorry but I know nothing about them and have a hard time with ours too.

  10. Never seen berries of that colour in my corner of the world. Pretty, but I don't think I'd dare taste them without knowing what they are!

  11. ...I'm no help here, I've never heard of dianella. A good rule of thumb here is that white berries may be poisonous.
