It's not Christmas carols that remind me the Big Day is fast approaching. My arum lily does that job for me.
Not far from home the pohutukawa trees with their crimson flowers are living up to their title of the New Zealand Christmas. They are an unmistakable symbol of Christmas
for New Zealanders at home and abroad.
It's interesting to hear how other people celebrate.
ReplyDeleteThe Pohutakawa is in splendid form this year and the lily is a beautiful specimen.
ReplyDeleteSuch beauty at a festive time of year!
ReplyDeleteThey are similar to what we call bottle brush trees. Nice Christmas plant!
ReplyDeleteThat poh... hrm, tree with the red flowers, is lovely. I always find it so hard to imagine Christmas in summer as I've never experienced it.
ReplyDeleteThe Pohutukawa is beautiful & looks very similar to what we here in Oz call a Bottlebrush. We had one of those Lilys in our previous house but I think ours was called a peace lily, maybe similar but different perhaps, I'm not much of an expert on plant knowledge.
ReplyDeleteI love your photos of the flower and the tree. I think I need to go to New Zealand at Christmas to see for myself! (I don't need an excuse to want to see New Zealand!!)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures...beautiful blooms...beautiful nature. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you live in a land of beauty!
ReplyDeletelovely lillies and pohutukawas, hoping your xmas was lovely up north :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Pauline, its always lovely to catch up on what's happening in your world and how it is looking. May the new year bring all things happy and good for you and yours and hoping you embraced a blessed Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHere's to you and the coming year! Cheers!
