Stormy sunset

Last evening I wouldn't have noticed the dramatic sky in the west if I hadn't lost power.  I would have been preparing my dinner.  I would have heard the thunder and seen the lightning, of course.  Couldn't have missed that.

So there I was sitting by a window reading by the last light of the day, keeping an eye on the clouds as they rolled closer, darkened and looked more and more threatening.

And then they were gone.  The storm blew away to the south.  The power came back on an hour or so later.   I had a late dinner.  All's well.

  3. I miss so many sunsets because I am busy with my life! Good captures. That nasty storm went over us in the middle of the night.

  4. Moody and beautiful. That's one thing about my house: I can not avoid the skies however much
    I'm living my life.

  6. Stormy here too. But sunset probably taking place behind the rainclouds... My favourite is the 2nd photo. Reminds me of "Gone with the Wind"! (ha - unintentionally funny, I just realised...)

  9. Love the golden color of the sky in the first two shots. I live in a very rural area so we lose power a lot! I can still cook because I have a gas stove but to do anything else is out. It's summer here and the house gets too hot to stay too long. Last week I went and spent the night with an aunt and uncle in the next town. They were happy to have me and it was nice spending some extra time with them since she is over 80 and he is over 90.
