First fence of the year

A few days before Christmas, while I was staying in Taranaki, my daughter suggested a quick trip to Wellington.  She had a purpose, I was more than happy to go along for the ride.

A special delight was to be there for Aiden's first ride in the cable car, all decked out for the festive season - the cable car, that is.

Thanks to Good Fences for being the inspiration for this post.  I've had a blogging holiday and needed something to kick-start me again.

We stopped a few times on the way back home from Wellington to stretch and give the little man a run around.  But the first stop was just to catch our breath at the view from the top of Paekakariki Hill and then I fired off another shot of the little fence beside the road as we descended.

The bright palings beside the road in Levin could only have been those of a playground.  We'd stopped because petrol was cheap and then parked in the shade beside the fence.

The colourful fences were elsewhere within the grounds, too.

It's a shame there weren't more trees within the grounds, it really was too hot to spend too much time in the direct sun.  30C (86 Fahrenheit) might not be hot for some places but it is for New Zealand.  Worth a photo out the window as we were stopped at the traffic lights.

Second to last stop was at a lovely park that included a playground in Hawera.

The fence separating the tennis courts from the playground.

Aiden played and I wandered.  It's a beautiful park.   I got a bit distracted from the fence I intended to photograph.

  8. Hello Pauline, I love all the pictures, especially those with a lot of colours, and those with that great view from the top. But what have those spiders done to the poor tulips (I guess)??? No miracle you got distracted from that great looking fence :D
I wish you a very Happy New Year!

  10. Thanks for the colourful post, Pauline. Almost a shock to my eyes, pretty much living in a grey-brown-occasionally-white world this time of year! :)
