FSO - From the Ground

"There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground" - love that line.  I remember when I first read it and feeling disappointed with the rest of the poem.  I had those words in mind when I went looking for images for this week's topic.  There was rain during the week, most of it heavy but some nice gentle stuff, too but none of my ideas worked.

Here's an image from before the rain, dust rising from the ground, allowing you can trace the vehicle's progress through the pine forest.

Nature's artwork clinging to the ground:

New life springing from the ground:

Old life, too.

Homes being built from the ground up:

Emerging from a hole in the ground:

And lift off!

That was a neat topic, I bet there will be as many interpretations of it as there are of us.  They will all be here.  Pop over and have a look.  Or, better yet, why not join us?

  1. I love that spider web shot, so beautifully taken. You have to be down on the ground for that shot.

  3. I loved the third one but when I got to 'Homes being built from the ground up' I decided that is one I would definitely pick for the week's summary. In case you think you can't pick your own I nominate it for you!! So please put it on. Pretty please...

  4. Yes, I liked the 3rd & 4th but the spider web is spectacular.
Only in Arizona have I smelled the smell of the ground - the best smell in the world

  5. I think you managed well to catch the spirit (or the smell!) of that line of poetry. Hard to choose a favourite, I think my vote would go to the mossy stones in the wood. But the field is awsome too with the wavy patterns...

  9. Recognise the first (from the tope of the only hill around?). Laughed at the second. Admired the rest.
