FSO - A Picture that Tells a Story

Right, I'm putting the problems of the week behind me and living in the moment.  I read during the week that psychologists at Harvard University have collected information from over 2,000 volunteers to find out how often they were living in the moment and focused on what they were doing, and what made them most happy.

They discovered that people were happiest when having sex, exercising or in conversation, and least happy when working, resting or using a home computer. And although subjects' minds were wandering nearly half of the time, this consistently made them less happy.

So sitting here half thinking about this week's post is not making me happy. I'd best get on with it.

  1. I think we have moments, hours and days when we are just not motivated. It's plain and simple. Then we are frustrated and then, we are not enjoying whatever it is that we are doing.
That's when it's time to...exercise, engage in conversation or have sex. LOL!
    Sounds good to me.
I like the first two photos.

  2. I'm happiest early in the morning, with a cup of coffee, gazing out over the ponds with a free day stretching out in front of me.

  3. The old I get the more I am able to live in the moment. It is less stress and I think that is my key. Whatever is less stressful Pauline I just love that first photo. My fav.

  6. This endless quest for happiness is futile, in my opinion. The more you search for happiness, the more it eludes you. I also find the phrase 'living in the moment' a bit silly. What else are we doing but living in the moment. Even if we waste the moment (who is to say what is a wasted moment?) we are wasting it in a particular moment in the present.

I bet you were happy selecting these shots and watching the action/non action.

  7. Well looking at that first photo makes me happy. That was a really good time and I can remember where the children where at the bottom of the steps with the waterfall. I can remember the shop with the pens and bookmarks. But the place? Matakama?

  11. Yes that is a really great story-telling photo with the boys all absorbed in what they're doing. I can be happy at the computer too though. That depends on what I'm using it for!!!

  13. Ah, yes, the joy of living in the moment -- like the boys absorbed in playing with goldfish. I spend a lot of time miserably thinking about when a moment might come that I can live in...and when it comes, I usually kill it by wondering if this is it. Am I living in the moment? No. I'm just thinking about living in the moment. How about now? Nope. Thinking again. Maybe I need some goldfish.

  14. Great story telling pics.

I understand about not wanting to take on another blog project. I don't either. That's why I thought if I found a group to lessen the work, it'd help. I have some other ideas I can work on for now.

  15. Did you intend for it to look as if the kids were throwing leaves downwards? Lovely pair of photos.

I am not usually unhappy when working, but then I enjoy my work and would do it whether paid or not. And it also involves sitting at a computer! :)
