FSO - what I'm thankful for in my town

This week the FSO subject is "Columbus Day in the United States and Thanksgiving Day in Canada. Show us something you have discovered in your town or something you are thankful for in your town!"

Hmmm.  Difficult.  There are so many things I am thankful for where I live.  I tried to narrow it down to something I am daily thankful for and there are too many of those, too.

Then, driving home from work yesterday, after a rather hectic schedule at work, I felt myself unwinding and relaxing when I caught sight of the Uppity Downities (my name for the mountains) and gently undulating farmland.

And I was thankful that I daily drive a road that meanders through lovely countryside.

I had to look up this quote to make sure I got it right because I sometimes play with it to suit the circumstances but always end up being thankful I am alive:

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful."
(Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta, the founder of Buddhism, 563-483 B.C.)

  1. The first photo is lovely - could be mistaken for a painting. You didn't just capture the likeness, but something of the spirit of the place.

  4. I think your name for the mountains should be in an Atlas. The Uppity Downies Mountain
Chain. Yes, you are fortunate to live in such a beautiful setting.

  9. It is a lovely landscape. For my own part though I'm thankful I don't have to drive any meandering roads every day... ;) I like the quote. Have to say I do similar lists in my head sometimes (if not - at least).

  10. I think that that your drive home is as beautiful commute as one could wish for (perhaps I would add 'after you've left the main road when going home').

I will always love the Uppity Downities.

You just left the sweetest comment on my blog - I loved the "technically challenged" part~~ believe me- I totally understand - and I love you for trying. Its just plain hard to learn all this stuff at my age - my son is a whiz at it all.

So so so nice to meet you!
