Friday My Town Shoot Out - Weather

Weathered sand

What happens when you want some interesting clouds, maybe even a good storm? One glorious clear skied day after another, that's what. And do I have any weather photos in my files? Nope! I obviously don't share Emma's fascination with the weather. Well, most of the time I don't. I'm a bit preoccupied with it at the moment because I have a special guest coming this weekend and, really, anyone who visits around here in summer expects to see some beaches. But most of the time I just take what comes and tend not to dwell on it unless it stops me from mowing the lawn for too many weeks in a row.

Living in a rural area the weather we are most concerned with is rain. Without rain, without grass, we have no livelihood. Also, the road I live on is likely to flood with extra heavy rain and the alternate route to town takes twice as long as the regular route.

Murky flood water

Rain in the hills

Could rain later this evening by the look of those clouds.

This is the sky I have in mind for this weekend.

Puddles after rain in the museum carpark - something I do not want to see this weekend.

At the end of the day this will do fine....

I expect there will be lots of beautiful photos of this week's theme "weather". You can check them out by clicking here.

  1. for not having any weather photos, you sure posted a lot of weather photos. Seems like man would learn to build roads ways from natural watershed... but no the easiest place to make a road is where the rain has cleared the land.... so flooding.
    beautiful photos as usual.

  2. Love your photos, Pauline. I really like the one of the puddle. You captured the reflection of the sign beautifully. All of my photos were taken while out of town, except for one.

  6. That is an impressive flood, and beautiful pictures of hills and clouds. I love the rain and this time of year we are usually soaking it up like crazy, but not this week. I had to come to you to see some rain.

  8. In the shoot of the wet sand, the folds look like an eye winking. You have so many large puddles, Pauline! The swirly clouds are supposed to be an indication that rain will arrive within 48 hours. They look so pretty and harmless though. The sunset through the trees is a wonderful choice for the grand finale! Thank you for sharing these.

We hope blue skies are smiling at you,
    from Barry and Linda

  9. I do also love any picture with reflections due to the wet streets and roads. I am doing SOF for the first time. I am learning a lot. Great photos.

  12. Beautiful photos Pauline. I love rural when it involves trees and grass. Even the flooded views are pretty. It made me think about the problems of mosquitoes afterward. Yikes!

  15. I just know that your country is experiencing flood too. But I guess not that worst. I love your green green and fine weather photos even with or without rain.

BTW, can I grab the best photo of yours that I like? I will make another special post. Thanks in advance!
