Friday My Town Shoot Out - Incongruous

What a stinker of an assignment! Were there brains burning all around the globe? I swear there was smoke coming from my ears! I love where I live now so much because everything is in harmony. So when Mary from the traveling hammer came up with this one it really challenged me. Maybe others didn't feel as challenged as I did by it but the Butler came along to help clarify my thoughts.

I quote: BUTLER: “Something natural juxtaposed with something manmade.” -

"or the opposite" replied a voice in my mind.

I've been watching the development of this little pond near the road a few kms down the road. I pass it twice a day and it used to always bring a smile to my face. Until that plastic chair was added!! I daily fight the temptation to stop and ask them to remove it! It's just not "right"!

So what else hasn't been "right" in my world recently? My city dwelling daughter's gumboots were the source of amusement last weekend when she visited. I wish I'd been able to get a photo of my farmer son's face when he first saw them!

The gumboot photos amused me. This did not:

And a bathtub in a paddock may seem incongruous to some although it's not such an incongruous sight around here.

  1. I thought this week's assignment was a challenge too. I only have one picture and have not posted as of yet. I really like the dog in the flower pot. That is really great. And I agree with you about the chair near the pond, that's just not right. You came up with some good photos for being so challenged. Great job.

  2. The dog in the tub is adorable! And those boots would be incongruous anywhere...particularly on feet.

  4. Great job! That dog... my cats both used to do the same thing to my pot of rosemary!
And around here too, every paddock has its bathtub.

  5. I can just imagine the seat being occupied by an old chap staring at the water with a cigarette or pipe in his mouth - banished from the house. Would you really deprive hime of that?

  6. Love the bathtub, and I was thinking of ordering peace sign gumboots! and the chair needs to go - a wodden bench would be way better!

  8. Ed and Reub want to know what you have against the dog in the flowerpot? Why, it's a perfect fit, isn't it?

  9. I'm starting to feel like a real grouch for not being amused by that dog's passion for my pot. Yes, Kerry, he is a perfect fit but the tulips would have looked good too!
Butler and Bagman, your comment cracked me up! Will pass that on to my daughter.
GB, if a chap is banished he doesn't deserve a seat - and would be just as comfortable on an old log or a wooden bench as Jp suggests.

  10. I thought this week was difficult too but you sure did come up with some good pictures. I especially love the dog in the flower pot. The boots!? Well, I have always be told "if you can't say anything nice then say nothing at all" LOL She really has guts to wear those though!

  13. Boots like those are in all the shops around here. I love them! But I wouldn't have the nerve to wear them to a farm. I can just hear the cows snickering.

  14. I had a difficult time too, if it's any consolation. I love the boot pictures. We don't need such things here, but I would pick pretty ones, too.

  15. I really found this assignment hard!! I love your shots though, they made me laugh so much. I love the dog in the plant pot and the wellie's theme was so clever! I agree with you on the plastic chair though - so incongruous!
